The Hall
The Galiano Community Hall (aka, South Hall, South End Hall), has a long history in the relatively short time of Galiano's colonial settlement. The Hall has continued to play a central role in Galiano's daily life, as a place to meet, organize, celebrate, and hosting the arts through plays, screenings, art and craft shows, workshops.
The Hall is rented by a wide variety of community members and groups, but has two primary tenants: the Galiano Pre-school Society, occupying the large play room downstairs and hosting Playgroup and, AMES -- Access to Media Education Society --, with a small office in upper stage area.
The Community Hall can be rented by anyone/any organization as a venue for special events or on a regular basis. The building has a full theatrical stage complete sound & light equipment, large projection screen, Dressing Room; a space available for Child Care; a completely equipped professional kitchen. There is capacity for 100 people, or about 9% of the island's population.
The ongoing growth of the Hall finds it as a base for community development projects, like the Galiano Community Food Program and continual improvement, like the new playground.
