May 8 2008 - 8:00pm

The Galiano Community Food Program's first potluck dinner. Bring your funny, sad, weird Stories of Food Scarcity...

How to make a meal with two ingredients? What was your favorite meal as a starving student? What was the cheapest meal you ever created for a crowd? How have you made a feast out of virtually thin air? (These are only ideas, this event is uncensored and you can therefore bring any story you like, as long as it is relevant to the topic at hand).

Community kitchen in the afternoon will feature cooking with canned tuna and dried beans (not necessarily in the same dish!!). There will be a presentation about our local Food Bank. Some of our local restaurant owners will bring a few dished to make with canned tuna or dried beans. You get to take home the recipes!

We provide the main courses, you provides the rest. Soups, Breads, Salads, Desserts, Appetizers, Pickles and Side Dishes, whatever you like. THE ONLY RESTRICTION: YOU MUST NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS MEAL, ONLY USE WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE IN YOUR CUPBOARD AND BE CREATIVE!! Cupboard empty or uninspiring? Help us set-up and clean-up, bring entertainment, bring flowers, whatever you like.

See you all there. Come early for the meal-(eating will start at 5pm) Seating limited to 100 participants at the South End Hall.
