If you would like to book the Galiano Community Hall, first check the Hall Calendar to see if the dates and times you desire are available. Then click the button below and fill out the “Submit an Event” form. It will be reviewed by a hall coordinator, who will contact you as soon as possible to confirm or ask for further information. Once it is approved, it will appear on the Hall Calendar, as a private or public event.  Please include as many details as possible, being sure to include all set up and clean up times, use of the kitchen and use of the equipment.

Rental Rates

Approved Rental Rates—effective November 1st, 2022. These rates are subject to change. Please check them with booking coordinator when arranging for Hall rental. Rental rates are kept low by fund raising efforts of the Galiano Club. Please help us when you can.

Hall rental includes use of the hall, the tables and chairs the standard overhead (not stage) lights.

Sunday to Thursday:

  • 1 to 7 hours – $20.00 per hour
  • 8 hours or more –  $17.50 per hour

Friday and Saturday:

  • 1 to 7 hours – $25.00 per hour
  • 8 hours or more $ 22.50 per hour

Daily Rate:

  • Flat rate of $250.00 per day for the hall and the kitchen -suitable for weddings and workshops.

Use of the Kitchen:

  • Flat rate of $35.00 for kitchen use added to hourly rental

Security Deposit

A security deposit of 50% may be required at the time of booking. This will confirm and secure your booking. You will be billed for the remainder of the rental cost following your event. Extra costs may be incurred if extra cleaning is required or if damages to the hall occur.

Cancellation Fee

Large Events must pay the rental in advance – there will be a 25% cancellation fee if the event is cancelled with more than 30 days notice. Less than 30 days will forfeit the rental fee.

Hall Use Regulations

The front door has a keypad and the code will be sent to you via e-mail prior to the event. Therefore enter your email in the contact information on the booking form.
Smoking is not permitted in the hall.
The Hall seating capacity of 135 people in chairs, 105 with tables, 255 standing (e,g, dancing).
Do not block exits or access to the kitchen.
Keep Fire Exits and wheelchair washroom access clear at all times.
All outside lights should be switched on for evening events – these switches are located inside the Hall vestibule and inside the main Hall on the wall to the left of the door.
Some large banquet tables are stored on sliding trays under the stage.
The chairs are located in the cupboard to the right of the main Hall entrance door.
An assortment of dishes, glasses, linens and cutlery is in the kitchen cupboards and drawers.
After use, rinse clean and place in the sterilizer. (Instructions posted)
Coffee makers use regular “perk grind” coffee. Run one pot of water through before making the coffee.
Instructions for using the propane gas stove are posted.
Events must cease at 01:00 and the Hall must be cleared and locked by 02:00.
Open fires are strictly prohibited, but candles in “chimneys” are permitted on tables.

Cleaning

Sweep the floors in the kitchen, bar and main hall.
Wipe Kitchen counters and stoves.
Ensure all food has been removed
Check that all garbage and recyclable material is removed from the building and from the yard if quests have used the yard.
Cleaning materials are located in cupboard in the AV room (between the bathrooms and the kitchen).
A cleaning fee will be added to the rent if extra cleaning is required.

Garbage

The renter is responsible for removal of garbage, including food waste (compost).
Recycle cans, bottles, papers and plastics in the labeled green bins outside the kitchen door.

Closing the Hall

Return all chairs and tables to the storage areas.
Return all dishes, cutlery and pots to the cupboards and drawers.
Place any linens used in the laundry basket in the kitchen.
Start at the rear of the building and ensure that every door and window is shut and locked.
Check that all lights are out in the prop room, dressing room, backstage area, kitchen and mail hall area and outside.
Close the kitchen door.
Leave the hall as clean and neat as you found it.
Any damage should be reported to the Hall booker as soon as possible after an event.

Overnight Kitchen Rental

The kitchen is available for rent independent of the hall from midnight or 1 AM (depending on whether there is a late event the night before) until 8am or the first event of the morning for a flat rate of $25.00.
